In this hands-on workshop, students will design and build a lockable cardboard box featuring their own mechanical rune lock. Using simple materials, they'll construct a locking mechanism that requires a secret combination to open, creating a secure place to store their small treasures and valuables.
As they build, students will explore how mechanical systems use moving parts to control access, while developing an understanding of sequencing, precision, and design. They'll test and refine their locking mechanisms, troubleshoot problems, and improve their designs to create a reliable and easy-to-use lock.
